CS Disco Appoints New CEO to Steer Company Post-Controversy

Austin-based legal technology company CS Disco Inc has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant change in leadership after a turbulent period. Eric Friedrichsen, former CEO of Emburse, will assume the role of President and CEO starting April 29. This move comes in the wake of the company's previous CEO, co-founder Kiwi Camara, stepping down last year under contentious circumstances.

Friedrichsen's appointment was confirmed on Wednesday, with the company expressing confidence in his ability to lead Disco into its next phase. He succeeds Scott Hill, who has been serving as the interim CEO since Camara's sudden exit in September following allegations of sexual misconduct.

The allegations against Camara were first reported by the Wall Street Journal, which cited claims that he had inappropriately touched a young female employee. In the wake of these allegations, the company's board initiated an investigation into the matter.

In response to the controversy, Disco engaged the services of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison to review its workplace policies, with partner Jeannie Rhee at the helm of the inquiry. Although the Disco spokesperson confirmed that the law firm had completed the review, details regarding the findings have not been disclosed publicly.

Amidst these challenges, Disco also reported the departure of Luke McNeal, the company's Senior Vice President of Global Sales, due to behaviors that were reportedly not in line with the company's standards. The specifics behind McNeal's departure remain unclear as both the company and McNeal have not provided further comments.

The leadership transition at Disco shows the tech company's effort to navigate beyond the recent controversies and refocus on its mission to provide innovative legal technology solutions. With Friedrichsen at the helm, Disco aims to bolster its commitment to both its customers and its workforce.
