What You Will Do
Assistant General Counsel - Compliance is responsible to direct, manage and integrate all compliance-related matters and activities including in connection with M&A activities. The role also involves conducting periodic evaluations of enterprise risk, implementing necessary controls, monitoring results of compliance and ethics efforts, and providing guidance to senior leadership and other stakeholders on compliance-related matters.

This position will report directly to, and work closely with, the Chief Legal Officer and will be a business partner to, and member of, the senior leadership team of the company and will collaborate effectively across the company to help the business identify and implement practical business solutions to achieve its goals. The Assistant General Counsel - Compliance will be highly organized, solution driven, highly service-oriented, pragmatic and proactive in their approach and be able to work both collaboratively and autonomously. In connection with their work, this person will identify new and improved business solutions and processes for the company regarding a wide variety of matters.

Experience:
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leading broad-based compliance and risk management programs in the insurance and health fields and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization to achieve the objectives of a robust compliance program in a highly efficient and effective manner. A minimum of eight (8) years in progressive insurance compliance-related positions is required.

Requirements:
  • JD from an accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials.
  • Licensed in at least one other state in good standing and submit an application to the Texas State Bar for admittance.
  • At least 8 years of combined top law firm and/or in-house experience in directing, managing and integrating all compliance-related matters and activities, focusing on insurance and health regulatory matters. Prior in-house and/or state insurance department regulatory experience is preferred.
  • Strong experience in corporate compliance and insurance risk management and regulatory matters, including licensing and compliance, HIPAA, TCPA, data protection and cyber security, records management, privacy frameworks, Medicare/CMS, CCPA, PCI, and governance (and GRC systems, technology identification and adoption).
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment.
  • Experience and comfort working with and advising business internal clients directly.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle multiple, competing workloads with changing priorities to meet necessary deadlines; has an inherent drive to solve problems collaboratively.
  • Excellent business acumen, attention to detail, communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to engage personnel across all levels of the company and exercise initiative.
