BigTech Layoffs Are Hitting DEI Jobs Hard - Companies that made lofty promises to hire more underrepresented groups are letting go of DEI departments. Listings for DEI roles were down 19% last year - a bigger decline than legal or general HR jobs saw [with only software engineering (24%) and data science (27%) jobs seeing larger declines]. FTC Announces Size Updates for Transaction Thresholds for Premerger Notification Filings - The revised figures for reporting proposed mergers and acquisitions will adjust from $101M to just over $111M. The FTC will publish the adjusted amounts no later than 01.31. More here.
Supreme Court Asks for Biden Admin Opinion on TX and FL Social Media Laws - The highest court requested the administration take a look at a pair of controversial social media laws in the US states imposed in response to beliefs that social media platforms were censoring their users (particularly conservative viewpoints).
